In today’s education system, we are making premature judgments on the cognitive ability of children before they have biologically and psychologically matured to the point of being able to demonstrate their abilities effectively. Add to this equation the issue of poverty and trauma and you have a lose-lose-lose situation. The child loses, the school system loses, and we as a society lose.
